He had no regrets as he left her in the night
All it seemed they did was fuss and fight

He caught a glint in his eye

As he sipped his cold tea that made him wince
He got up from his chair
His cares laid bare seemed to gleam in his eye and hypnotise the girl
They hypnotized the girl

She threw away her ring and proclaimed him king until the day she died
But he’d lied already when he said she was better and this he couldn’t hide
She asked the wrong questions and made the suggestion they should marry in June
He carried yes with him till the day of the wedding oh how he tried,
how he lied

As he sat in the Abbey the walls looking shabby
He thought of quick change
No time to rearrange all the plans or the clothes he’d chos’n
So he swore on the bible that no one was a rival for his lover’s hand
Another loving strand broken by his hand
